My buy again and again skincare.
Making this list was one of the easiest things I’ve had to write about as I know what would be mentioned in a heartbeat. I’ve always loved my skincare but definitely got more obsessed when we had nothing to do in lockdown. I researched a lot about the best skincare for me (sensitive, dry skin) and tried a lot of different products. So here’s what I’ve bought again and again for the past few years because this stuff just never disappoints…
Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturising Cleanser I could not be a bigger fan of this creamy, ultra-moisturising cleanser. I’ve been using it first thing in the morning and also after a balm or oil at night for my double cleanse. I’ve sometimes mixed it up and tried different ones that are great - like the Glossier Milk Jelly Cleansing Bar (which I’ve found so much better than the regular jelly) and Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser - but I always come back to this one.
Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator I have quite sensitive skin so I have to be careful with exfoliators not being too harsh. This is one of the first I used and it’s great because if areas like your nose, chin, and temples are congested you can just build it up. It also smells like a rose garden which is just lovely.
Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelorator It’s pricey for a spritz but other ones I’ve tried just don’t compare to how hydrating it is. I like to use this one right after I’ve slapped a toner on or done a more intense exfoliation. You can buy it in a smaller size to try before taking the plunge with it but you won’t be disappointed.
Go-To Face Hero My absolute favourite face oil of all time. I first came across this Aussie brand when I went to Sydney and went a bit mad at MECCA (their version of Sephora). I’m also a big fan of their sheet masks and I always keep them in the fridge ready to use on a Sunday night before the start of another week. The oil is super lightweight and you know that feeling when you take a sip of water/wine/beer whatever your tipple is after wanting it for ages? That’s how my skin feels when I lather this stuff on. Just as I’ve been writing about it now I’ve gone to the site and bought the oil. Again.
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado This really does feel like a treatment rather than an eye cream. I think it really helps when I’ve got off a flight and my under eyes are particularly puffy, but normally, I put some on my fingertips at night and dab it around my eyes - I never used to do my eyelids and just went under, which was a huge mistake as I was missing that whole part even with moisturiser! It lasts forever too and if you apply a thick enough layer you can use it as an eye mask.
Beauty Pie Featherlight UVA/UVB SPF 50 Sunscreen + Primer One of my big learnings when I started properly investing time in skincare was the importance of SPF - even in winter and if it’s not sunny. As the founder of Beauty Pie says, ‘If you can see across the other side of the street, wear SPF. The issue I had with finding a good one was that they were all too heavy and took ages to absorb, which is the opposite of this one - I also don’t want a hundred layers on my skin so the fact that’s in a primer too is a huge plus.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream Do you know when a product just feels expensive?! This cream is more like a balm and a top tip I have is not to go straight to bed after smothering it over your face unless you want your pillow to be wearing it instead of you (another top tip is to invest in a silk pillowcase).
