Fave recipes of 2023.

Pasta alla Vodka. Or as I prefer to call it Pasta alla Ferg after my best friend’s partner (Ferg) made this for us after a very cold January day out and I was hooked. I’d sometimes see it on menus at restaurants and remember when Gigi Hadid made it viral, but I always thought it was too complicated - I was very wrong. I think by the second time I made it I cracked it, and it’s so lovely to make a huge batch of it for when friends are round.

Rosemary and Cherry Tomato Foccacia. I was always terrified at the idea of making bread (terrified is slightly overreacting), but if I was ever going to try it had to be with the help of the Thermomix. It basically does every kind of recipe for you so there’s no way to mess anything up - it weighs, sautees, stirs, blends, chops - you name it. I love making this Foccacia when people are over - one thing to note is that it’s deceivingly filling so you don’t need a lot if you’re doing it as a starter (unless you want to!).

Sri-Lankan Style Chicken Curry. This was the first thing my boyfriend ever cooked for me and when I knew I had to keep him around. It’s also the first time I’ve tried a recipe from Gousto and tbh haven’t had one since that’s been as good as this. This almost felt healthy as I was full but not dying - did a workout the next day first thing feeling super energised and not like a lump which is what normally happens when I have a curry!

Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. Another fave from Thermomix and one I’ve made over and over again. It hardly has any flour in it so it’s almost like a flourless cake. It’s great cooled down and served with cream and berries or hot with some ice cream.

The Twinkle. A Christmas phenomenon. Unsure how I didn’t know about this cocktail until now. I do need to give a warning that it is incredibly strong and a few friends have accused me of trying to get them in such a state before dinner that if I have messed up the food they’d never know. Originally made with vodka but I sometimes use gin - the champagne can be swapped for prosecco too which is what gives it that magic ‘twinkly’ effect.
